In miserable conditions, and with several players, and the manager abscent, the U11's managed to grind out a win against Newham Warriors with the help of some of the U10's.
Barkingside started well putting together some neat passing moves but never quite managing to complete the final pass. The first half continued in this fashion, the defence (Savanyah, Tommy & George) snuffing out any attacks Newham managed to mount whilst releasing the midfield (Ariyan, Olivia, Joey and Nial) up the pitch.
The second half started in a similar fashion and it was starting to look like a 0-0 draw could be on the cards when Barkingside won a corner. Olivia put the ball into the penalty area where Joey was waiting in acres of space. He took a touch then smashed it into the goal via a slight deflection off one of their players.
Newham tried to get back into the match, and for a while looked dangerous, but again Barkingside's midfield and defence stood firm whilst carving out a few more really good chances to put the match out of reach.
