Barkingside recorded their biggest win of the season in the Sunday sunshine at the 'Lane! It was the fastest of starts, Benji winning a corner from kick off, Alfie's delivery causing chaos and Ed nodding home his first goal of the season 💥. In the blink of an eye Ed doubled his tally! Alfie picked himself up after being fouled and delivered a free kick that was only half cleared to our rampaging no2 who found the back of the net with a shot their keeper could only help home💥. When Josh was chopped down after bamboozling an opposition midfielder George G split their centre backs with a free kick that Ben ran onto to smash in a third 💥. George L was hustling well out wide and Savanyah solid as ever keeping any opposition forays to a minimum. Exhibition stuff followed from the home team - Jackson and Benji with back to back own twos and brilliant stuff from Fintan and Lucas to draw yet another foul with Alfie sending the free kick just wide. A defence splitting pass from Savanyah to Jackson saw him combine well again with Benji and follow in to slam home after out no 10's shot was parried 💥 Speed demon Fintan was felled after skinning two Tigers, and shortly after drove just inches wide after a delightful roulette from Lucas. Maybe he should play with a sore knee every week! George G, imperious at the back, tried his luck going forward lifting a shot just over. A Jackson back heel after showing great strength played in Benji to shoot wide. The net was bulging once again however when Benji connected with Alfie's driven corner firing into the side of Fintan's head and duly into the back of the net 💥.
Tom and Chris used the half time break to seek refreshment on the sidelines 🍻 whilst Jackson continued to dominate on the pitch after the restart. A dazzling Fintan run left Tiger players fouling one another before Ed first shot into the side netting after being released by George G then drilled wide in his hunt for the hat trick. We saved our best goal til last with Jackson beating two, Josh slipping around two more and then squaring for Ben to tap home 💥. Phil punching the air somewhere over the Atlantic as he did so. A rare shot from the visiting yellows kept Lewis awake before George L released Ed who tried to run the ball home to no avail. One last big chance for Ed appearing at the back post but, overexcited at the prospect of keeping the match ball, fired high over the bar. The only blot on a quite brilliant player of the match performance.
With Tigers tamed it was pats on the back all round and a well earned week off for the Barkingside Blues and Coach Regan.
