U11's tough start to the new year

The U11's faced formidable opponents, Ultra, for their first match back after the Christmas break. From the first whistle it became obvious that the U11's had had nearly a month off and started very passively. Well done to Jacob for pulling out some great saves and getting the team on the front foot with some great distribution from goal.

As the first half wore on, Barkingside gradually blew away the cobwebs and started closing down the Ultra players quicker and began fighting for the loose balls and launching some attacks of their own.

Into the second half and Barkingside started to launch some good attacks from the forward balls by the defense and midfield and were unlucky not to pick up a goal or two. But Ultra are a very good side and were equally as happy playing on the break as they were pressing.

As the match wore on, and with only one substitute available, the Barkingside boys and girl tired and were struggling to get back into defense after launching their attacks.

A tough day back for the U11's but one that should set them up for the rest of the season.
