U10's do it Again..

Barkingside ran out winners in a superb and had fought victory over Newham Warriors this Sunday morning.

After some solid early defending from George and Savanyah, Barkingside came to life. A great run from Lucas started a passage of play that led to a corner. From Lucas' delivery Benji swiveled and sent a backheel volley flying into the net - a breathtaking goal worthy of a World Cup Final! Lewis was called into duty at the other end of the pitch, saving well from a free kick before a flowing counter attack involving Ronnie and Ben saw Benji fire just wide before half time.

The opposition started the second half brightly but Ronnie stood firm with a last ditch tackle before, Player of the Match, Benji burst down the wing and crossed a ball that was begging to be tapped in but sadly evaded all the light blue shirts.

Little matter as George released Ben who showed speed and strength to hold off two defenders before slotting home beautifully.

Benji's swivel and shot a minute later rebounded off the post before Lucas was denied by a good save.

A harsh award of handball late in the game gave Newham a penalty which they dispatched superbly.

Barkingside showed real effort and commitment, given they had no substitutes to call upon, to hold on for a quite brilliant victory. What a game, what a season ⭐
