The U11's fought out a gritty draw against Tomis, going behind three times before grabbing a hard fought draw thanks to a great penalty from Olivia.
Barkingside started the match with only 8 players whilst the U10's, who had been drafted in for the day, made their way across after their match. Despite that, Barkingside were looking good and more than holding their own.
Back up to the full contingent and Tomis took the lead despite the best efforts of Jacob in goal to keep the ball out.
Not for long though, as Nial (out on the left) passed to Ariyan who had drifted unmarked into the penalty area. Ariyan cut back, got the ball onto his preferred right foot and toe poked it past the goalkeeper into the net.
Into the second half and Tomis once again took the lead only for POTM Olivia to equalise again. She picked the ball up in an attacking position and confidently lashed it into the back of the net.
Tomis then got a very soft penalty which Jacob (the other POTM) looked very confident about saving. Clearly his confidence did the trick as the Tomis striker knocked it just wide.
Barkingside were clearly starting to tire and conceded another goal with about 10 minutes left on the clock. The parents on the sideline were desperately trying to encourage the team to have one last go when Olivia moved into the Tomis penalty area only to be brought down by one of their defenders.
Olivia picked the ball up and put it confidently on the spot before drilling it to the right of the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.
