Barkingside U10's Stroll to a Convincing Win

Barkingside ran out 4-1 winners over Brimsdown with their most convincing performance of 2024 to date. After a really bright start the light Blues took the lead when Ben, with Grandad Bernhard proudly watching on, took advantage of a poor goal kick to smash the ball back past the helpless keeper.

Barkingside were cruising - long periods of nice interplay building from the back with George, Ian and Savanyah enjoying the opportunity to maraud further forward, and Anton time and again showing super strength down the right hand side.

Having been a spectator Lewis was suddenly called into action with a fine flying save to protect the lead. But the pressure was becoming too much for the opposition - first a brilliant cross from Benji was unlucky not to be tucked home.

Benji then had one shot saved on the line and another just flew wide after a wonder dribble following a great run from George.

Our wizardry winger was not to be denied however, Benji smashing home after a spellbinding move involving Ben, George and Josh.

Ian, George and Savanyah were letting nothing pass them to see out an utterly brilliant first half performance in spite of the howling wind.

The second half delivered more of the same with Barkingside dominating the early stages. Player of the Match Josh was pulling the strings from the off before riding 3 challenges to bury a third.

A great corner routine then saw a chance fly narrowly wide, whilst a mazy run by Anton was unlucky not to be rewarded with a goal.

The 4th did arrive and it was that man Josh beating two more defenders before sending the ball flying into the top bins. He had barely caught breath before clearing off his own goal line to cap the ultimate Steven Gerrard Esque performance !

Lewis, distribution first class as always, capped a good display with a great late save albeit was disappointed to concede a consolation goal with the last kick off the game. That however could not take the shine off this Sunday morning stroll for the 10’s. Well played all !
