A Rollercoaster Ride for the U8s

Barkingside u8s may have broken the world record for the fastest two goals in history! A dream start with two cool finishes from Benji saw them take the lead after 10 seconds!

The honeymoon period ended abruptly, and Barkingside proceeded to concede a flurry of goals. With the parents and coaches behind them, they kept their heads and showed their true spirit, with diligent defending and distribution from Leon and a great goal from Benji to turn the tide.

Spencer (sub for Matthew) came on and added several more to the scoresheet, with some superb free kicks plus a confident finish from Eddie's laser-guided corner. Great resilience from Thomas in goal meant a clean sheet once the comeback had started and first half finished level.

Despite wholesale changes at half time, the team continued where they left off, with another goal from Spencer as he picked the goalkeeper's pocket and ruthlessly slotted home.

Sviat added another with a clinical finish, and Jude finished off an astonishing comeback with a sublime free kick to end the match with a great win!

The match also saw great debut performances: from James with endless energy and skill in midfield, and Milo who made several excellent saves to keep a clean sheet. Matthew also came back bravely from first half injury to help the team seal the win.

Well done to the coaches for guiding the team on this astonishing comeback, and to the players for showing such great team spirit and putting on such an entertaining match!
