The u11s kicked off the game with some high pressing, which Jacob quickly converted into a goal - a sneaky finish that sent the keeper the wrong way.
Not long after, some great passing between Olivia and Kayson ended up in a rebound off the keeper, which Joe was there to finish.
Play moved into Barkingside’s half, with Milo called into action - a superb goal kick landed right at Jacob’s feet, which he buried into the bottom corner, ‘cool as a cucumber’ according to the linesman.
BYFC temporarily modeled Man City’s recent complacency at the start of the second half and were unfortunate to concede. However, this didn’t deter them and they bounced back – Olivia hit the post but Kayson was on hand to pounce on the rebound.
Some clinical passing from Aadam and Joey enabled Olivia into the box, but she was fouled resulting in a penalty. Despite a clamour of volunteers, keen for a BYFC goal (and having won the penalty) Olivia stroked the ball calmly to the keeper’s right and he had no chance.
4 sports were on the attack and some dogged defending was required from Tommy, George and Savanyah to spare Barkingside. Moving the ball up the pitch, Ariyan teamed up with Jacob to help earn a free-kick near the danger zone. Olivia took a shot, the keeper patted it back and Joey was ruthless in the follow up.
Despite Barkingside’s dominance, there was still tension to be found – with Joe clearing the ball off the line in the closing moments.
Special thanks go to the U10s for playing up. Well done all for another formidable display. Kudos to the U11 team for staying motivated after a challenging start to the season, it has been a pleasure to see them thrive recently with encouraging results!
