11th November Success for the U11's

Barkingside got back to winning ways narrowly defeating a competitive Shield Academy on a pitch fit for Wembley Stadium.

After an impeccably observed 2 minute silence Josh set the tone - first nutmegging the defender to play Benji in who dragged just wide and then finding the side netting after rounding the keeper himself.

Barkingside were purring with George L and Ben combining beautifully to win a corner with Ed and Savanyah snuffing out any pressure from the opposition high up the field. One wonderful through ball did beach our back line but typically brilliant defending from George G snuffed out any danger. A regulation save from Lewis next who reacted quickly to find Josh who released George L down the right and forcing a corner.

Set piece specialist Alfie delivered an unplayable ball that George L volleyed first time back across the keeper and into the bottom corner 💥

Another Alfie corner caused more havoc before a deep cross from Player of the Match George L was very nearly headed home by Benji to double the advantage. Fintan and Jackson joined up in a classy passage of play allowing Josh to bamboozle the back line and play in George D who was very unlucky to see his goal bound shot blocked from 8 yards.

The game was effectively won in a minute of end to end madness Lewis saving at point blank range from Shield's star player only for their keeper to deliver an early Christmas present passing straight to Benji who gratefully accepted the gift 💥

The end of the half saw Jackson find Josh who saw his shot saved from distance and Alfie driving through midfield setting up another effort that was pushed clear.

The Light Blues were applauded off and rightly so! 👏
